While people most often use contact lenses for site correction or therapy, people can use non corrective colored contacts for cosmetic purposes. It is true that some makers do tint the lenses a slight blue to make them easier to find. Still, makers intentionally add bright color to lenses for multiple reasons. These will change the natural eye color. Some also have ultra violet (UV) protection, as well. Certainly, even though they are only available through subscription because of safety concerns and subsequent government regulations, there are some clear advantages for wearing colored contact lenses.
People were very glad when tinted contact lenses became available. Some use them because they just want a different eye color, but other people prefer them for protecting their natural lenses from harmful ultra violet rays from the sun. Some people whose eyes are color impaired, order special red tinted contact lenses. While red tint does not cure their color blindness, the tint does enhance the colors so they can distinguish them more easily. Specific color hues and densities in specialized contact lenses have helped people with color blindness, dyslexia, dysphraxia (tendency to clumsiness), other learning challenges, and even migraines.
Specialists design contact lenses to be invisible to onlookers. People looking into the eyes of someone wearing the lenses will not be able to detect them. Even the tinted lenses appear natural. The tinting comes in different levels of saturation. The licensed practitioner and the client can sit down together and fit the exact look and effect desired whether the client wants tinting for practical, correctional therapy or for cosmetic purposes only.
Licensed practitioners must legally prescribe non corrective colored contacts also known as non prescription colored contacts. The decorative lenses must not impair or cloud the vision, and so there are regulations in place to ensure proper lens coloration. Still, there are multiple benefits to wearing colored contact lenses and many people do find them a successful option.
