How to stay clean and sober is the hardest part for alcoholics and drug addicts. Stopping the use of alcohol and drugs requires more than just hard determination but a commitment. A commitment to live healthier, free from these unhealthy substances and taking steps to stay clean and sober – one day at a time. Believe it or not, there are a lot of things to do out there. The world is full of untold adventures, beautiful places and plenty of people waiting to be met and mingled. Here are the ways to have 7 weeks to sobriety that should help you in achieving your goal to be free from the booze and drugs.
1. The first week should be devoted to cleaning your closet. Throw away your drug paraphernalia.. Stop stocking your fridge with beer or liquor. Instead, put in lots of fruit juices. Buy more tea and coffee. Tell your guests there are no liquors available and that you are sorry but that is a house policy from now on. If you allow yourse. lf even just to drink one beer, you know you will just keep coming back to the old ways.
2. For the second week, take on a new hobby or sport. Find something that piques your interest. Start living healthier by being active from now on. Sweat out all those toxins by frequenting the gym, going to the beaches for some water activities like snorkelling, diving, wakeboarding and the likes. Take on a new adventure and join group activities for hiking, trekking or mountain climbing.
3. From your active second week, anticipate the third weekend by planning on a trip. Invite your friends and go someplace you havent been to. Take your time and enjoy exploring. Allow some self luxury or relaxation in that place.
4. By the fourth to fifth week, you should be able to find out what you like doing most and keep doing it. Be careful to not associate with friends who influence you to either to alcohol or narcotics.
5. You are almost done, the next weeks are the 6th and 7th, so if you have kept absolutely drug-free and alcohol-free, please keep it up. There is no turning back now.
Remember that if you complete the seven weeks to sobriety, you shall be able to keep it up for the rest of your life. If you complete seven weeks, you will be able to say goodbye to drugs forever. As to alcohol, you shall be able to drink a few ones without losing yourself on it. That is the long term goal. Enjoy your life and surround yourself with good friends. And lastly, do not ever lose faith in yourself.
